Fee Schedule Guidance
As I state on my design page, it is difficult if not impossible to create a static fee schedule that will apply to any and all sites. Each site is different and the effort to complete a site can not effectively be reduced to simple metrics such as the number of pages required. In some cases a site with 15 pages might take less time than a site with only five. With that in mind, it is worthwhile for both of us to provide you with an idea of what the cost might be before initiating a possible agreement.
Some rules of thumb
The following rates are not provided as guidance and there is room for variation on any given project.
- $150 initial down payment, non-refundable except under special circumstances
- Rule of thumb: Each page will run a minimum of $50.
- A site requiring interactivity (dynamic sites) will greatly increase cost.
- Experience has taught me that developing sites for less than $650 is not worthwhile due to the minimum effort required.
I realize this may not have as many specifics as you would like, but unfortunately, that is the nature of the beast. While I would not be comfortable agreeing to an hourly fee for projects (because that puts you in a position of little cost control) I can state that it would be my intent to earn something in the neighborhood of $45/hour on a given project.
Note that fees associated with domain registration and web hosting are the responsibility of the site owner.
